Aseptic (sterile) technique is the set of practices that keeps microorganisms out of a preparation: clean hands and surface, alcohol-swabbed vial tops, never touching needle or stopper to non-sterile surfaces, and not re-entering a vial with a used needle. It is the same discipline used in clinical and pharmacy settings.
How it works
Contamination usually enters through an unswabbed stopper, a touched needle, or a vial left open. Mechanical damage comes from injecting diluent forcefully onto the powder or shaking the vial, which foams and shears fragile peptides. Going slow, swabbing every time, and swirling gently addresses the large majority of problems.
